As a Data Science Intern, you will have the opportunity to leverage state-of-the-art tools and technologies to address critical stakeholder needs, solve complex challenges, and deliver impactful insights. Working alongside highly experienced consultants and technical experts as a member of the Platforms Team, you will contribute to enterprise-wide Digital & Data capabilities and support evolving needs across Jacobs’ global markets. In this role you will operate within next-generation computing environments to apply your foundational knowledge in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Data Analytics to develop real-world solutions and bridge the gap between theoretical understanding and practical application.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to contribute to scalable data models and implement applicable analytic methodologies to support global market projects
Utilize advanced Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence technologies to interact with data systems, derive insights, and architect prototype solutions
Design intuitive visualizations and create detailed reports using data visualization tools to effectively communicate insights for varying levels of technical depth
Build robust data pipelines to streamline data processing and analytic workflows
Develop a rigorous understanding of data management and quality standards, with an emphasis on best practices for data analytics and future-oriented data model design
Current university student in good standing; pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
Exposure to data engineering and analytics through personal interest, prior work experience, and/or academic projects
Conceptual understanding of quantitative and qualitative data modeling, with experience collaborating to derive insights from data and to provide interpretive analysis
Strong programming skills in one or more of Python, R, SQL, and/or Spark; familiarity with data processing and machine learning libraries (e.g. Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow API) and data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, R-Shiny)
Experience with tools that support the full software development lifecycle, including version control and collaboration platforms (e.g. Git, Azure DevOps), deployment technologies (e.g. CI/CD, Docker), data analysis and reporting software (e.g. Excel), and LLM-assisted development technologies (e.g. ChatGPT, Copilot)
Creative thinker with highly tuned attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a willingness to learn and discover
Preferred:
Familiarity with cloud-based data and AI stacks, such as AWS (Redshift, Athena), Azure (MS Fabric, Power Automate), Databricks, and Palantir Foundry
Advanced understanding of best practices for developing and optimizing algorithms, presenting data insights, and thoroughly documenting software and technical contributions
Additional programming skills in C++, Java, and/or Swift; experience with Angular and REST APIs
