As a CS/SPD Supervisor, you will supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the Sterile Processing or Central Sterile Supply Unit. The caregiver in this role will be responsible for engagement activities, performance feedback and corrective actions, respond to customer needs and concerns, act as a troubleshooter, and make recommendations for and/or implement improvement initiatives.
A caregiver in this role works evenings from 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. with rotating weekend requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Prepare and evaluate daily/weekly staff assignments for assigned shifts.
Ensure staff are in compliance with department and CCF policies, procedures, and protocols.
Assess quality of service delivery to ensure department quality standards are met, turnaround time is efficient, and OR needs are met.
Provide performance feedback to employees, and when applicable, corrective action.
Lead department employee engagement activities.
Facilitate staff development programs including in-services on product usage and infection prevention.
Assist in orienting new employees and supplements as preceptor when necessary.
Collect data and prepare reports concerning instrument distribution, loss, and replacement.
Support instrument preventative maintenance program and vendor management technology solution.
Use the department's instrument and productivity tracking program to maintain accurate records regarding sterilization and tray assembly count sheets.
Establish internal inventory levels and maintain levels in accordance with Cleveland Clinic annual procedure volumes and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Actively seek ways to eliminate errors, reduce turnaround time, maintain workflows, and improve customer service.
Demonstrate use of L.E.A.N tools philosophies.
Serve as a designated backup manager, assuming management responsibilities during the manager's absence for any reason.
Provide data analytics and generate reports to support operational metrics and performance tracking.
Possibly participate in working groups to develop and document standardized processes.
Adhere to contractual formularies and promote efficiency and standardization whenever feasible.
Participate in management reviews for quality systems.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High school diploma or GED
Two years of Sterile Processing and/or related O.R experience
Sterile processing distribution certification (CRST) by IAHCSMM or CBSPD within two years following the completion of the new hire period
Proficient with computer software applications (Excel, Word) and related sterile processing information systems
Ability to document policies and procedures and train others in system use
Knowledge of performance improvement and quality standards specific to sterile processing
Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with members of the healthcare team
Ability to promote customer satisfaction and to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
One year in a leadership role and/or as a Sterile Processing lead technician
Proficient in ERP Systems (ex. Oracle) or similar software applications
Background in manufacturing,warehouse, or machinery
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting items that weigh 20-30 pounds.
Requires the ability to push a fully loaded cart weighing up to 200+ pounds.
Possible exposure to biological and chemical contamination.
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to within normal range.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum Annual Salary: $52,270.00
Maximum Annual Salary: $79,727.50

A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education.
