BayCare Health System Surgical Technologist Cert System Educator in Clearwater, Florida
BayCare is seeking a Surgical Technologist System Educator to support a new, growing apprenticeship partnership with Pinellas Technical College (PTEC). This role focused is on developing and supporting Surgical Technologist apprentices and serves as a key link between PTEC, Surgical Technologist apprentices, preceptors, and clinical teams, helping ensure apprentices are successful as they transition into acute care practice.
Your Role Within the Team:
Support and mentor Surgical Technologist apprentices across the West Region (MPH, MDH, MCH)
Serve as the liaison between PTEC, apprentices, preceptors, and BayCare facilities
Develop and maintain curriculum, skills checklists, and structured learning plans
Lead skills boot camps, in‑services, and education sessions
Conduct on‑site rounding and regular check‑ins with apprentices
Partner with clinical leaders on orientation, competency validation, and ongoing education
Support process improvement and system‑level education initiatives
Help shape and evolve this role with a high level of autonomy, supported by system education partners
Qualifications:
Required
Associate’s Degree (preferred from an accredited Surgical Technology program)
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) (NBSTSA or NCCT TS‑C)
Minimum of 5 years acute care Surgical Technologist experience
Preferred
Teaching, instructor, or preceptor experience
CST instructor or curriculum development background
Strong ability to work independently in an evolving role
Location: Clearwater, FL
Status: Full-time, Exempt: Yes
Shift Hours: 7am-3:30pm
Shift: Shift 1
(Shift 1 = Days, 2 = Evenings, 3 = Nights, 4 = Varies)
Weekend Work: Occasional
