GHK Truss LLC Truss Designer in CLARKSVILLE, Indiana

Summary:

Designs floor and roof truss systems using specialized computer software. Coordinate with other designers, delivery drivers and staff to meet schedules.

Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Prepare truss layouts and design/engineering using commercial truss design software based on construction documents, building plans and quote sheets

Provide customers with truss package quotes via fax, email, in-person, etc. (this is an inside sales component)

Perform final design and engineering of truss jobs for shop production

Communicate with other departments to meet production and delivery schedules

Field measure jobs as required prior to final design and engineering

Complete or coordinate truss repair designs as necessary (may be in conjunction with Engineering Manager at GHKs discretion)

Qualifications:

Working knowledge of the residential, light commercial, and agricultural construction industry, and familiarity with local and national building codes

Ability to read and interpret construction documents, blueprints, and building plans

Basic understanding of structural design principals including statics and loading

Good interpersonal skills and ability to understand customer requirements and concerns

Familiarity with truss design CAD software, such as Alpine, MiTek, TrussWall, etc. preferred but not required

Project management experience a plus

Skills:

Oral and written language abilities: Analyze and interpret specifications and technical procedures. Read and write business correspondence and effectively communicate information to customers and co-workers.

Mathematical aptitude: Work with plane geometry, solid geometry and basic trigonometry. Apply concepts including fractions, ratios, percentage and proportions.

Reasoning ability: Solution of practical problems where concrete data exists. Use of engineering judgment and application of design principals where only limited or vague information is available.

Computer Literacy: CAD and/or Design Software (AutoCAD, Microstation, Revit, etc. or other), MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
