Saint-Gobain QA Technician in CLAREMONT, North Carolina
The Night Shift QA Technician will ensure the overall quality of raw materials, work in process, and finished products. QA Technicians support manufacturing by effectively reporting test results and participating in root cause analyses. QA Technicians may interact with, Technical, Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, Strategic Sourcing, Customer Logistics, Consumer Relations, and Suppliers. They test and report results for new and existing products.
Shift: Nights (12-hr. 2-2-3 schedule working every other weekend)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform an effective pass down at shift change overs
Collect raw material in-process, and finished goods samples
Receive, review, file, and maintain raw material Certificates of Analysis (CoA) and Certificates of Compliance (CoC)
Perform incoming inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and / or audit plans
Perform testing for work in process materials to ensure compliance with specifications
Perform finished product testing to ensure compliance with specifications
Accurately record test results on the proper forms and computer systems
Perform/assist quality audits [first piece checks (FPC), first article inspections (FAI), In-Process Audits (IPC), last piece checks (LPC), etc.]
Control nonconforming material in SAP, the physical tagging system and make disposition as needed
Report nonconforming material to management and shift supervision
Properly collect, label, and store any needed samples
Submit daily summary reports to plant leadership [managers, supervisors, process, process engineers, other quality group members, etc.]
Recommend changes to existing procedures and equipment to improve productivity and accuracy
Evaluate samples submitted in association with complaints per management instructions
Assist with testing process improvements and new product development at the plant level
Assist and support specification updates and improvements [raw material, work in process, and finished product]
Support JDC and plant process by testing and quarantining materials (trial, etc.)
Assist with CAPA implementations
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience – Associates degree or prior quality lab experience preferred
Basic math capabilities
Ability to read gauges, meters, measurement scales, etc. (English and metric)
Working knowledge of SAP, Factory +, and Microsoft Office a plus
Excellent communication skills
Excellent attendance record
Able to work independently, self-motivated, and be a team player
Organized and detail oriented
Ability to work every other weekend and support other shifts as needed
The physical demands to successfully perform the essential functions of this position include:
Ability to work on a laptop or PC workstation for extended periods of time
Occasional sitting, walking, and talking on the phone
Continuous standing for long periods of time
Schedule flexibility to include weekend and after-hours workload
Occasional positioning and lifting of weights from 25-50 pounds
