PECO-Astronics, located in Clackamas, Oregon, designs and manufactures highly engineered commercial aerospace interior components and systems for the aerospace industry. We specialize in Passenger Service Units (PSUs) which incorporate air handling, emergency oxygen, electrical power management and cabin lighting systems. We also manufacture a wide range of fuel tank access doors that meet stringent strength, fuel sealing and anti-corrosion requirements.
We are seeking to add an Intermediate Tool Maker to our great team!
The purpose of this position is to keep Die casting and Plastic injection molding tooling operable and provide the necessary repairs and modifications. You may also assist with the construction of molds, tooling and fixtures for the entire facility.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Analyze and resolve problems related to tooling performance
Interpret specifications and maintain liaisons with Engineering
Operate all tool room machine tools, equipment, accessories, and inspection equipment
Use a variety of steels, plastics, and composites
Working knowledge of heat treating of metals including tool steels
Working knowledge of processes and equipment for die casting, molding, and misc manufacturing operations
Working familiarity of pneumatics and hydraulics
Attends Quality Manual Standards Training and applies Quality Standards accordingly
Reports consistently to work and is on time for eight-hour shift
Other duties as assigned
Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly
Maintain a clean work area
Skills, Training & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
Previous experience, education and/or training in tool making, manual machining, & troubleshooting
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, mathematical, diagram, or schedule form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Ability to solve and define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continually required to stand and walk; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. The employee will occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include natural or corrected near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
