Purpose
Work on most assignments with instructions about the expected overall result. You may receive technical guidance for the most unusual or complex problems, but independently determine and develop approaches to solutions. It works on problems with various scopes in which the analysis of information requires the evaluation of identifiable factors. It exercises its judgment within generally defined practices and policies by selecting the methods and techniques to obtain solutions. Erroneous decisions or recommendations and failures usually result in serious delays in programs/projects and considerable expenditure of resources. It assists in the development of new products and processes and provides technical support for the transfer to the cd. juárez manufacturing plant and during the start of regular production.
If CSS Position: This position will have responsibilities across the companies ETHICON and Cardiovascular and Specialty Solution (CSS) Johnson and Johnson Family of Companies) including a range of multiple product platforms such as General Surgical Devices, Sutures, ENT, Infection Prevention, Electrophysiology and Surgical and Non-Surgical Aesthetics.
You Will Be Responsible For:
Under limited supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as Johnson & Johnson’s procedures and guidelines, this position:
Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices across a broad range of assignments or related fields.
The role involves making independent decisions related to engineering problems and methods, as well as representing the organization at conferences to resolve important questions and support the planning and coordination of work.
This position requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of existing theories and principles.
The work performed is expected to result in the development of new or improved techniques or procedures.
The role contributes to the development of new or refined equipment, materials, processes, products, and/or methods.
As a staff specialist, the position develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities that are carried out by others.
The position evaluates the feasibility and robustness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment when necessary information is insufficient or when confirmation through testing is recommended.
This role serves as a staff consultant in a technical specialty, installation or equipment area, or program function.
The position may include technical supervision responsibilities, coordinating and reviewing the work of a small team of engineers and technical staff, estimating manpower and scheduling needs, and assigning work to meet established completion dates. Alternatively, as an individual researcher or specialist staff member, the role may receive project support from other engineers or technicians.
The role practices and actively enforces the company’s safety and quality policies and procedures.
The position ensures both personal and company compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental regulations, policies, and procedures.
The role is responsible for the purchase or design of equipment that meets the health, safety, and environmental standards established by the company.
The position conducts design reviews and pre-validation evaluations to ensure a solid and safe startup of new processes.
The role is responsible for communicating business-related situations or opportunities to the next level of management.
The position ensures that subordinates comply with all company Health, Safety, and Environment guidelines and that all required resources are available and in proper working condition.
The role performs other related activities as necessary.
Experience and Education:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with six or more years of related engineering experience, or a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with five or more years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in a relevant discipline with four or more years of related engineering experience.
Must possess a clear mastery of the practical, theoretical, and experimental foundations of engineering techniques.
Communication skills in English, spoken and written (mandatory)
The role demands significant engineering experience at a complex and advanced level.
Experience in the medical device industry is considered a plus.
