About the NICU The Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Cincinnati Children's is one of the largest and most advanced Level IV neonatal intensive care units in the United States-and the only Level IV NICU in Greater Cincinnati. In addition to caring for the most critically ill newborns in our Level IV unit, our team also provides expert neonatal care at affiliated local Level III nurseries. This integrated model offers our providers the unique opportunity to work across multiple levels of acuity, gaining broad clinical exposure while delivering high-quality care to newborns throughout the region. Our multidisciplinary team collaborates closely with subspecialists in cardiology, fetal and neonatal surgery, neurology, pulmonology, and urology to care for more than 700 infants each year. Role Overview Cincinnati Children's is seeking a PRN Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join our highly specialized neonatal team. This role provides advanced clinical care to critically ill and medically complex newborns in the NICU and affiliated neonatal units. The PRN NNP will work collaboratively with neonatologists, fellows, residents, nurses, and multidisciplinary specialists to deliver comprehensive, family-centered care. Key Responsibilities * Provide advanced practice care to neonates in a Level IV NICU and affiliated Level III nurseries * Perform comprehensive neonatal assessments and develop evidence-based care plans * Manage complex neonatal conditions including respiratory failure, congenital anomalies, prematurity, and surgical conditions * Perform advanced neonatal procedures within scope of practice * Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatric subspecialists, and multidisciplinary teams * Participate in stabilization and management of critically ill neonates * Provide education and support to families during hospitalization * Contribute to quality improvement, clinical excellence, and evidence-based practice initiatives Team Environment Our Neonatal Nurse Practitioners play a vital role on an expert care team that includes: * 100+ Advanced Practice Providers (APRNs/PAs) * High-risk follow-up programs * Specialized Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD) teams * Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) program * Neonatal surgical subspecialty teams Minimum Qualifications * Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program * Current Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certification * Eligibility for Ohio APRN licensure and prescriptive authority * Neonatal clinical provider experience preferred * Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment Why Cincinnati Children's Cincinnati Children's is consistently ranked among the top pediatric hospitals in the nation and is internationally recognized for excellence in pediatric care, research, and education.
