Job Description: Data EngineerOverview
The Data Engineer will focus on ETL development and data integration efforts supporting a complaints management workflow system built on IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW). This role requires expertise in DataStage, familiarity with DB2, and experience with scripting languages. Responsibilities may include landing data from Snowflake into DB2 as well as handling unstructured data destined for storage platforms such as NAS or SharePoint.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, construct, install, test, and maintain scalable data management systems.
- Build high-performance algorithms, predictive models, and prototypes as needed.
- Ensure all data systems meet business requirements and align with industry best practices.
- Integrate new data management and engineering technologies into existing data environments.
- Develop standardized processes for data mining, data modeling, and data production.
- Create custom software components and analytics applications.
- Identify and research new opportunities for leveraging existing data assets.
- Use a range of programming languages, tools, and technologies to build integrations between systems.
- Collaborate closely with team members, including data architects, IT engineers, and data scientists.
- Implement or update disaster recovery procedures for data systems.
- Recommend approaches to continuously improve data quality, reliability, and performance.
Qualifications
- Technical degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., SQL, MySQL, NoSQL, Hadoop, MongoDB).
- Experience programming or architecting backend solutions (e.g., Java, J2EE).
Required Technical Skills
- ETL development using DataStage.
- Experience with DB2 or similar database management systems.
Preferred Skills
- Scripting experience with SAS or Python.
- Experience with Java.
- Experience working with storage solutions and unstructured data.
Background in banking or other highly regulated industries.
