*About being a Crew Supervisor at Easterseals Redwood: *

Building Value is a social enterprise powered by Easterseals Redwood whose mission is to accelerate careers in construction for people facing economic and employment challenges. Through our training program, we deconstruct and demolish homes and offices to salvage building materials, appliances, and architectural gems for sale to the public. The Crew Supervisor is integral to both the paid deconstruction work we do as a company and our mission of training young people in the construction trades. As a Crew Supervisor, you will be the direct job-site supervisor of a rotating team of 3-5 training participants and work alongside the crew in demolition and deconstruction/salvage projects, and an occasional construction or hardscape project. Framing and finish carpentry skills are a must for this position.

The Crew Supervisor works closely with the Deconstruction Manager and two other Crew Supervisors to plan work activities, safety plans, and crew assignments. On a day-to-day basis, the Crew Supervisor will instruct, train, and coach crew participants in the work for the day, provide feedback to crew members on attitude, performance, work ethic, and work quality, and coordinate pick-up of materials from deconstruction sites to be transported to the retail location. The Crew Supervisor ensures the safety of all associates while maximizing efficiency on the job site and holds the crew accountable for work ethic, quality, and proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and tools.

Contributing to diversity in the construction industry is an important aspect of our work at Building Value. We strongly encourage people from underrepresented groups to apply for this role.

*Essential and Primary Responsibilities: *

Lead a work crew of training participants by example in safety, work ethic, attitude, quality and professionalism.

Develop & maintain good public relations with on-site customers/clients.

Ensure a safe work environment and proper use of PPE.

Train crew participants on tools, proper tool usage, and building/deconstruction techniques.

Mentor, train, coach, and enforce program requirements through providing daily and weekly feedback.

Transport crews, tools, and materials to/from job sites.

Operate heavy equipment (skid steer, mini skid steer, forklifts, man lifts) when needed.
