Robert Half Accounts Receivable Clerk in Cincinnati, Ohio
Description We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Clerk to support project-based billing and payment processing for an engineering organization in Cincinnati, Ohio. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate invoicing, reconciling accounts, and partnering with internal teams to keep financial records current throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, sound analytical skills, and hands-on experience in accounts receivable operations.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and issue customer invoices tied to project activity, contracted work, and approved billable hours.
• Coordinate with engineering staff to verify timesheet entries are complete and accurately reflected in billing records.
• Manage financial activities across the life of a project, including job setup, funding updates, invoicing, and closeout tasks.
• Review and process purchase orders to support proper billing documentation and customer requirements.
• Record incoming payments and apply cash receipts to the correct customer accounts and outstanding invoices.
• Examine billing data and reporting outputs to identify discrepancies and help maintain invoice accuracy.
• Complete month-end account reconciliations and support assigned closing activities within the general ledger.
• Provide reporting support to leadership and respond to ad hoc requests for financial analysis as needed. Requirements • At least 3 years of experience in accounts receivable, billing, or a related accounting support role.
• Working knowledge of customer invoicing, cash application, and commercial collections practices.
• Experience reviewing aging reports and following up on outstanding balances in a business-to-business environment.
• Ability to reconcile accounts accurately and assist with month-end close procedures.
• Familiarity with purchase order processing and billing documentation requirements.
• Understanding of billing controls, financial reporting, and data accuracy checks.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
