Pen Rider (Cimarron, KS)
1. Observe and understand proper safety procedures and rules at all times.
2. Observe and understand proper company policies and procedures at all times.
3. Ensure the safety of all crews.
4. Be alert to any environmental, maintenance, or safety issues, and report them to Management.
5. Clean and maintain neat appearance of Hospital, Processing Barn, and Horse Barn.
6. Ride pens daily to monitor cattle for health issues. Remove any sick cattle and/or bullers. Determine appropriate treatment regiment and administer that regiment in the correct
manner. Ensure that treated animals are returned to the appropriate home pens upon completion of medication program.
7. Enter the daily vet activity into the Turnkey Vet System and ensure that the entries are tied to correct animal.
8. Meet as required with consulting Veterinarian to determine areas of strength and weakness related to animal health and implement improvement recommendations.
9. Work together with other Pen Riders to ensure that the overall goal of total cattle health in the Feed Yard is maximized.
10. Direct movement of cattle to and from hospital and buller pens.
11. Ensure movement of cattle to scale for shipping in a timely manner and ensure accuracy of head counts and weighing protocols. Monitor withdrawal requirements of animal
medications and ensure withdrawal requirements are met before shipping cattle.
12. Cattle inventory monitoring and control.
13. Control death loss through tracking and accurately reporting deaths and advising Management on corrective action to avoid further death loss.
14. Provide hay to incoming cattle that do not receive hay from the Feed Yard Feed Crew.
