Job Duties

Hours: 48 hours/week, Mon.-Sat. 8 hours/day, 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.

Employer may request but cannot require workers to work on their Sabbath. The nature of farm work may require workers to work after dark and possibly weekends depending on weather conditions. Hours offered may vary based on factors such as weather or other unpredictable variables that impact the farm’s operation.

Job Duties: Assist with grinding and mixing feed for swine production. Maintain clean and sanitary livestock facilities by power washing pens and equipment. Assist with breeding sows through artificial insemination and accurately record breeding dates on sow cards. Move sows from breeding pens to gestation pens as required. Administer injections or treatments when necessary to maintain herd health.

Assist during farrowing and provide care to newborn piglets to support survival through birth and infancy. Duties include castrating, ear notching, vaccinating, clipping teeth and tails, and recording the number of piglets per sow, birth dates, and any treatments provided. Wean piglets from sows according to production schedules. Flush and manage hog waste into holding systems, and replace filters, valves, and related components as needed.

Additional duties include harvesting and transporting grain and oilseed crops to storage facilities for use in feed grinding and mixing operations. Perform routine repair and maintenance of barns, gates, feeders, water systems, fences, farm machinery, and equipment. Drive farm vehicles as required and complete minor daily and incidental upkeep of equipment and work areas.

Approximate staggered entry: 15 workers will begin on April 15, and 5 workers will begin on May 15.

The employer maintains a drug and alcohol-free workplace. Upon hire, workers may be subject to a drug test at no cost to the worker. A positive test result or failure to comply with testing requirements may result in immediate termination of employment.

Minimum Education Required

No High School Diploma or GED required.

Minimum Experience Required

Three (3) months of verifiable experience relevant to the job is required.

Worker must be able to obtain a valid driver’s license upon hire and maintain a clean driving record.

Worker must be able to lift items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.

Worker must be able to perform work that requires exposure to extreme temperatures, extensive pushing or pulling, sitting or walking, frequent stooping or bending over, and repetitive movements.

Additional Compensation

Employer may, at the company’s sole discretion, pay workers at a rate above the minimum required and/or provide additional compensation such as bonuses, fixed salaries, PTO, insurance, incentive pay, or other benefits to any worker employed under this job order based on lawful, non-discriminatory factors including skill, performance, tenure with the employer, licensing, training, punctuality, or prior related experience.

As required for all workers in Minnesota, hours worked in excess of 48 hours in a work week will be paid at the rate of 1.5 times the regular rate of pay.

EMPLOYER ASSURANCES: Work guaranteed for 3/4 of contract period, starting with date of arrival at work site. Employer provides free housing for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Employer pays inbound transportation and subsistence to work site upon 50% completion of work contract for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of at least $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts. Required work-related tools and supplies provided free of charge by employer.

Effective Jan 1, 2024, per MN State Statute, an employee will earn one hour of paid sick and safe time for every 30 hours worked, up to at least 48 hours of accrued Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) per year, provided the employee works a minimum of 80 hours in a calendar year.
