BERRY GLOBAL FILMS Maintenance Technician (Maintenance Tech) in Chino, California
Primary Function
:
Perform preventive and repair maintenance work on production machinery to ensure the continuous production of high-quality film while maintaining all safety work standards.
Essential Functions
:
- Troubleshoot, repair and correct mechanical, electrical and process problems associated with production equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Provide 24/7 technical support for production.
- Use JDE system to purchase and stock parts.
- Ability to assemble, disassemble and upgrade production lines or support equipment as required for repairs, upgrades and/or installations to include mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, fabrication, VFD and PLC.
- Regularly inspect production lines and support equipment and schedule necessary preventive maintenance routines.
- Ability to identify and work with contractors to repair, install, remove, and/or upgrade equipment.
- Welds together metal parts, equipment pieces, etc. as needed.
- Maintain building and grounds.
- Maintains a safe working environment; Reports unsafe conditions to management.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Standing and walking to inspect facility including, building and equipment, and overall manufacturing and warehouse operations for as much as 100% of workday
- Sitting to prepare reports and use computer equipment for approximately 10% of workday
- Reaching with hands and arms for as much as 75% of workday
- Climbing or balancing for as much as 70% of workday
- Kneeling, stooping, crouching or crawling for as much as 70% of workday
- Bending, twisting, reaching and leaning for as much as 75% of workday
- Talking to communicate with others for as much as 100% of workday
- Hearing to communicate with others for as much as 100% of workday
- Using arms to grasp, handle and type for as much as 75% of workday
- The employee in this job is required to exert 60 pounds of force occasionally (less than 1/3 of time); and/or up to 40 pounds of force frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of time); and/or up to 30 pounds of force regularly (more than 2/3 of the total time)
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
Journeyman certification preferred.
Experience:
Two to four years of experience in industrial electrical repair including drives, instrumentation, and process controls involving high-speed production equipment such as extruders, resin conveying equipment, packing equipment, and state of the art process controls.
Special Skills:
Must possess basic mechanical and electrical skills.
Must demonstrate ability to follow written and verbal instructions with little or no supervision.
