Hussmann Corporation Cost Accountant I in Chino, California
Overview
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to grow into a Cost Accountant II role within a dynamic manufacturing environment. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience across key areas of plant finance, including inventory costing, labor reporting, and general ledger activities. You will partner closely with the Plant Controller, HR, and cross-functional teams to support the Chino manufacturing facility while developing the skills and systems knowledge needed to advance your career. This position offers exposure to core financial processes, continuous improvement initiatives, and the opportunity to make a direct impact on operational efficiency and reporting accuracy.
Responsibilities
Cross-train across accounting functions to support workload balancing and improve BOM accuracy
Prepare and analyze daily manufacturing labor and overtime reports (HPC)
Support inventory costing activities and participate in the annual physical inventory process
Assist with general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and month-end close
Partner with HR to enhance union cost tracking and reporting
Gather cost accounting data and perform financial analysis to support decision-making
Identify, analyze, and explain variances from standard costing
Develop and interpret reports to improve visibility into plant performance
Collaborate with plant leadership and cross-functional teams on special projects and process improvements
Build working knowledge of key systems including DART, BAAN, Excel, and Crystal Reports
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
0–2 years of relevant experience (internships or entry-level experience welcomed)
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and core Office applications
Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills
High attention to detail with the ability to manage confidential financial information
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate across all levels of the organization
Adaptable and open to change in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
Preferred Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including root cause analysis
Ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision
Experience or interest in manufacturing or plant accounting environments
Effective communication with production and warehouse teams
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, operationally focused environment

The salary or hourly range of $51,450 - $95,550 is just one component of Hussmann’s total package. Actual compensation varies depending on the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.
