Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity Farmworker/Laborer - Obrero agricola in Chillicothe, Michigan
Three (3) farmworkers are needed in Ross County, Ohio, to perform general farm labor and hand harvest of tree fruit and vegetable crops, including apples, nectarines, peaches, pears, plums, grapes, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, tomatoes, asparagus, squash, peppers, pumpkins, hay, and cucumbers. Workers will plant, seed, thin, prune, spray, tie, stake, trellis, and fertilize crops; remove weeds; maintain orchards and fields; repair fences and farm buildings; and set up, operate, and maintain irrigation systems. Duties also include operating tractors, forklifts, and other farm equipment; baling hay; assembling tunnels and laying plastic; and harvesting produce by hand according to quality standards. Workers will also sort, pack, clean, load produce, assemble and repair boxes and bins, and may drive employer-provided vehicles to worksites. This position requires at least two months of verifiable commercial tree fruit and/or vegetable hand harvest experience. Applicants must provide job references from employers within the past three years. Workers must be able to perform physically demanding outdoor work, including standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive hand-harvest tasks while meeting quality standards. Employer will provide specific training and supervision. Workers must be available for the full contract period.

Wages / Salarios: *Workers will be paid $16.50 per hour, with the opportunity to earn more through piece-rate work. *H-2A workers under this contract will be paid $16.50 per hour.
