Insight Global Upholstery Manager in Chicago, Illinois
Job Description
The Upholstery Manager is responsible for leading the furniture and upholstery department, overseeing the design, construction, upholstery, maintenance, and inventory of custom furniture pieces used for events and installations. This role manages staff, coordinates closely with Production and Sales teams, and ensures that all furniture and upholstered items meet quality, budget, and scheduling standards. The position reports to the Director of Production and operates with a high degree of independence and judgment.

Skills and Requirements
3+ years of experience in upholstery, furniture building, or repair
Hands‑on skills in sewing, upholstery, and basic woodworking
Proven experience managing and leading a production team
Strong organizational, time‑management, and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends - Experience in event décor, production, or experiential design
Familiarity with event or inventory management software (e.g., Ungerboeck)
Bilingual English/Spanish
Knowledge of event venues and large‑scale installations
