Summary This position is organizationally aligned under Patient Administrative Service (PAS) at the Jesse Brown Medical Center (537) Chicago, IL. The employee serves as a 2nd Level Supervisor and program analyst performing analytical and evaluative work of programmatic aspects of organizational operations and management. Assignments involve data gathering, analysis, and interpretation. The employee supervises Supervisory Medical Supports Assistants assigned throughout the Service. Responsibilities Duties includes: Establishes, directs, and manages a complex system of clerical support. Provides technical and administrative supervision for the Medical Support Team within the Service. Serves as the first-level supervisor of the Supervisory Medical Support Assistant Supervisors and second-level supervisor for the Medical Support Assistants. Initiating requests for recruitment, interviewing and selecting employees, complying with EEO objectives, planning and assigning work, and maintaining accurate and current position descriptions. Provides administrative and business support for the Service in meeting local and national mandates for performance measures. Assists the Inpatient Processing Section Chief/Outpatient Scheduling Chief (SC) with gathering and interpreting performance data, financial data, and workload data. Coordinates with informatics for development and management of data systems, assisting and creating the basis for data driven decision making of scheduling processes. Ensures that all required consult/scheduling audits are completed by the required deadlines. Responsible for solving problems through the selection and application of a variety of standard analytical techniques and procedures. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/22/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration and resolution of issues and problems of a procedural and /or factual nature; skill in conducting interviews with supervisors and employees to obtain information necessary to evaluate and analyze the issues of the assignments; Knowledge of VistA applications; Knowledge of the Patient Administrative Service processes as it relates to administrative functions. Work includes a variety of assignments involving different and unrelated steps, processes, or methods; Skill in the use of software programs, including word-processing, databases, and spreadsheets, such Microsoft Word and Excel (most current versions);. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have ?a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED.. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level.
