Mars Store Operations Project Manager (2-year assignment) in Chicago, Illinois

Job Description:

M&M’S Retail is embarking on a two-year transformation journey to streamline our business. The Project Manager will be a two-year assignment to lead and coordinate key store operations initiatives, driving the successful execution of transformational projects that enhance operational efficiency and align with strategic business objectives. This role involves cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder management, and ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget while maintaining compliance with company policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Store Operations & Transformation Director to prepare and submit all project proposals.

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of store transformation projects, ensuring objectives are met within established timeframes, budgets, and quality standards.

  • Capture and document all business, legal, and operational requirements into comprehensive project plans.

  • Create and maintain project documentation, including detailed project plans and regular status reports for management review.

  • Facilitate project meetings and updates with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment and progress.

  • Report project status and progress to the steering committee, maintaining the overall direction and integrity of the project.

  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks, developing contingency plans as necessary.

  • Control project scope and manage change requests, escalating issues to the Director when required.

  • Supervise external vendors and suppliers to ensure their deliverables meet project requirements.

  • Take ownership of resource allocation and project progress to ensure timely and on-budget completion of store transformation initiatives.

  • Ensure project objectives are clearly communicated and understood by all team members, fostering collaboration across functions.

  • Engage all relevant departments to review and approve deliverables impacting their areas of expertise.

  • Develop and maintain operational guidelines and manuals to support global implementation and standardize store transformation process.

  • Manage multiple complex projects concurrently, balancing priorities and resources effectively.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support project and organizational goals.

  • Deliver the projects on budget on time.

Context & Scope:

  • Proactively seek continuous improvement initiatives to transform business processes for store operations projects.

  • Drive accountability throughout the end-to-end business to ensure the timely, accurate and efficient delivery of all milestones.

  • Drive organizational transparency and effective communication among all stakeholders.

  • Serve as a business process champion by reinforcing deliverables, ways of working and accountabilities.

Education & Professional Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7+ years’ experience in Project Management

  • Experience in working in a multi-channel / multi-geography retail business.

  • Strong stakeholder management and proven influencing skills

  • Highly organized, accurate and calendar driven, with ability to handle many competing priorities.

  • Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision

  • Proficient in MS Office applications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all aspects of the business

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field preferred

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.

The pay range shown is applicable to all US locations listed within the job posting:USD 79,280.00 - USD 109,010.00
