Sr. Prepress Technician - Park Ridge, IL

Direct Hire - \$35-45 per hour

A Sr. Prepress Technician ensures print production readiness by reviewing digital files, managing color, creating proofs, and producing plates using software likeAdobe Creative Cloud and Kodak Prinergy. This senior role guides team members, troubleshoots technical issues, maintains equipment, and verifies output quality against specifications. They typically require experience in prepress operations, strong technical skills in imposition, and ability to handle, and sometimes lift, heavy materials.

Key Responsibilities

Workflow Leadership:Directs daily prepress operations, including scheduling, prioritizing jobs, and guiding team members.

File Preparation & Preflight:Reviews customer files for accuracy, checking for proper fonts, images, resolution, bleeds, and color.

Imposition & Proofing:Uses software to arrange pages (imposition) and creates proofs (digital or physical) for customer approval.

Plate Making & Equipment Management:Operates CTP (Computer-to-Plate) equipment, plates, and maintains machinery.

Quality Control:Ensures finished plates and proofs meet strict color and quality standards.

Troubleshooting:Resolves technical issues with files or equipment to avoid production delays.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Software Expertise:Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat), Pitstop, and RIP software.

Technical Knowledge:Deep understanding of offset/digital printing processes, trapping, and color management.

Leadership Skills:Experience leading a team, managing workflows, and communicating between departments (customer service, pressroom).

Attention to Detail:Strong proofreading and visual quality control skills.
