The Project Development team closely collaborates with other internal functions (e.g., utility-scale renewable development) and external stakeholders to identify and develop the best sites for our expanding project portfolio. The Senior Manager of Project Development oversees project development activities from project origination and will support in taking financial investment decisions for data center sites and natural gas generation assets.
We are looking for individuals with experience in energy infrastructure project development, specifically natural gas development expertise, while other experience, e.g. in renewables, data center or other conventional generation is a plus. If you’re excited about helping RWE to expand its portfolio to serve new market needs, we look forward to speaking with you.
Role Responsibilities:
Manage and prioritize a regional or technology-specific pipeline of data center and flexible generation projects from early-stage development to FID
Create and implement development strategies including market entry, partnership opportunities, and risk mitigation approaches

Develop project-level and portfolio-level capital budgets and development schedules
Oversee large external consultant teams performing environmental studies, engineering work, and permitting
Represent RWE in formal engagements with transmission providers, state and local permitting bodies, and utility commissions
Monitor policy and regulatory changes relevant to load and flexible generation applications (e.g., tax incentives, interconnection rules, etc.) and translate them into project strategy
Provide recommendations to senior leadership on project viability, strategic pivots, and investment decisions
Lead competitive intelligence and market analysis efforts to shape project origination priorities
Act as a regional or functional point of contact for resolving major permitting or interconnection challenges
Job Requirements and Experience:
Bachelor degree in engineering, business, economics, or other relevant field; Master’s degree a plus
Minimum 7 years of work experience in the development of large infrastructure projects, ideally in natural gas assets, renewables, data centers, other conventional power generation or the broader energy industry, with a proven track record
Expertise in land owner negotiation, real estate agreement creation and management
Market knowledge: Interprets implications of policy, grid infrastructure, and macroeconomic factors to data center and flexible generation growth potential
Development expertise: Advanced expertise in technology-specific development strategies, permitting pathways, and financial drivers
