Principal Financial Group Sr. Associate, Trust Administration and Operations in Chicago, Illinois
What You'll Do
We are looking for a Senior Associate, Trust Administration and Operations to join our PGI Trust Company Operations and Governance team. You will support the daily administration, oversight, and operational integrity of the Trust Company. It operates independently to ensure timely and accurate execution of key functions, including regulatory reporting, compliance monitoring, monthly reconciliations, document management, SharePoint administration, and process improvement. You will enhance operational efficiency while ensuring adherence to trust documents, ERISA requirements, policies, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Reporting & Compliance
Assist with regulatory filings, committee materials, internal audits, state exams, and annual CIT reporting, including audits and Form 5500s.
Conduct ongoing compliance monitoring in line with policies and regulations.
Omnibus Account Oversight & Reconciliation
Coordinate monthly omnibus account reconciliations with internal and external stakeholders.
Provide oversight, issue escalation, and support month end processing to ensure accuracy.
Process Improvement & Special Projects
Identify and implement efficiency improvements and risk mitigation measures.
Maintain and update operational procedures; address workflow gaps and operational pain points.
Cross Functional Coordination
- Partner with Fund Services, Compliance, Legal, Investments, Client Service, and others to support seamless CIT operations.
Document Management & Systems Administration
Maintain accurate, compliant document repositories and regulatory records.
Administer SharePoint sites and internal systems supporting workflows, reporting, and document accessibility.

Who You Are
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years in trust operations, investment operations, fund administration, financial services, or regulatory/compliance roles.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros).
Experience with SharePoint administration and document/workflow management tools.
Strong analytical, problem solving, and reconciliation abilities.
High attention to detail, strong organization, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Ability to document processes and contribute to continuous improvement.
Experience in supporting audits, exams, and regulatory reviews.
Successful completion of a criminal background check required

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out
Experience with Collective Investment Trust (CITs), mutual funds, retirement plans, or fiduciary products strongly preferred.
Background in reconciliation, regulatory reporting, or audit support preferred.
Proven experience documenting processes and contribute to continuous improvement.
Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)
$89300 - $139700 / year
Salary Details
The following locations are examples of market-specific salary ranges across different geographies.
Des Moines, IA: $89,300 - $120,650 / year
Charlotte, NC: $94,000 - $127,000 / year
Chicago: $103,000 - $139,700 / year
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
