Job Title: Structural Engineer
Job Description
The SR Structural Engineer role is an advanced position requiring significant expertise in heavy industrial and power plant environments. Candidates must have either over 10 years of relevant experience or hold an accredited bachelor’s and master’s degree in engineering along with a professional engineering license.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive structural engineering services and field support.
Prepare detailed designs and calculations for various projects.
Conduct site walk downs at construction sites to assess project progress.
Develop cost estimates and material takeoffs to ensure project efficiency.
Contribute to project scheduling and staffing input to optimize resource allocation.
Produce and verify structural steel design calculations and drawings.
Coordinate and manage multiple large-scale, multi-discipline projects.
Perform structural inspections and provide thorough written reports.
Essential Skills
Extensive experience in structural engineering, particularly in heavy industrial and power plant sectors.
Profound knowledge of structural steel and concrete design principles.
Proficiency with structural analysis and design software, such as STAAD PRO.
Familiarity with structural codes and standards, and OSHA regulations.
Ability to solve complex problems and make decisive decisions.
Strong computer skills and expertise in structural design and analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Accredited bachelor’s and master’s degree in engineering.
Professional engineering license.
Experience in structural steel connection design.
Capability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineers, and vendors.
Work Environment
Fully Remote - site visits occasional if candidate is local to the Southeast Region
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $68.00 - $77.00/hr.
