Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a talented and experienced Sr. Project Manager/Deputy Program Manager with direct experience with Superfund remediation under US EPA contracts to lead execution and manage growth of multiple award contracts involving environmental investigation, design and remediation projects in the upper Midwest and Great Lakes regions. This role combines program delivery, client leadership, and business growth. The selected candidate will oversee multiple task orders under EPA contracts and serve as a key partner to the Program Manager in managing performance, client relationships, and strategic expansion of the program. The candidate may work partly remotely and partly at an AECOM office within this geography with occasional overnight travel as needed to support program and project requirements.
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Program Management:
Manage a multiple task order program consisting of EPA Superfund Remediation task orders
Interaction with EPA and other Superfund and Great Lakes Project stakeholders including EPA regional leadership, Great Lakes National Program Office, state and local agencies
Support teaming strategies, capture planning and proposal development.
Perform work with minimal direction, reporting to the program manager and periodic interaction with corporate leadership
Project Management:
Responsibility for project scope, schedule, budget, and quality performance
Manage and direct professional and technical staff to complete complex environmental projects
Perform regular client interaction on technical/cost/schedule topics
Analyze financial statements and complete budget tracking
Lead execution of complex remediation projects including RI/FS, RD/RA, risk assessments, and sediment/soil/groundwater remediation
Ensure compliance with CERCLA, RCRA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
Oversee the preparation of work products.
Supervise senior, junior and mid-level staff
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS in Geology, Engineering, or related field plus 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
Valid U.S. Driver’s License
Successful candidate will have to pass a background check, motor vehicle driving records, and medical surveillance program.
Preferred Qualifications
Sr. Project and/or Program/Deputy Program Manager experience on EPA contracts.
10+ years of experience managing large environmental remediation projects under EPA and USACE contracts
Experience serving in a Program-level leadership role and managing multiple task orders
Experience as a client facing professional with seller-doer ambitions.
Professional License (PE, PG) in Upper Midwest/Great Lakes Regional States
12+ years’ experience in environmental remediation including soil, groundwater, sediment, and emerging contaminants (e.g., PFAS) project management
Master’s degree in Geology, Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, or related degree
Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations
Experience with community relations and public meetings
Thorough working knowledge of RCRA, CERCLA and federal contracting requirements.
Experience in team management and scheduling of staff and resources to ensure on time and on budget project delivery
Superior communication, writing, editing, and reporting skills for a wide variety of audiences
Experience and expertise preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and change orders
Experience with capture management of Federal Remediation Opportunities and overall business development
Have led teams of professionals in executing Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Risk Assessment, and Treatability Studies in support of Federal environmental projects
Additional Information
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $120000 to $170000.
