We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Consultant to join our team on a high-profile construction project. This role requires an individual with a strong commitment to safety and exceptional communication skills, who can efficiently manage safety protocols and collaborate with various stakeholders. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and fostering a culture of safety awareness.
Responsibilities
Implement the project's safety guidelines, site-specific safety plan, and any client-specific safety requirements.
Coordinate with the regional safety lead to ensure the availability of necessary safety signage and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Confirm that all personnel scheduled to work on-site have completed the required safety orientation training.
Gather and organize documentation from subcontractors and trade partners, including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), High-Risk Activity Plans, and Heat Illness Prevention Plans.
Conduct at least one safety audit per day using the designated digital platform, including annotated photos.
Share audit findings and corrective actions with the project team to ensure visibility and timely resolution.
Submit a minimum of two Safety Observation Reports (SORs) per week.
Spend 60–70% of your time in the field engaging with crews and monitoring safety practices.
Attend and contribute to daily huddles, coordination meetings, foremen’s meetings, and preconstruction meetings.
Lead or support weekly all-hands safety meetings, including preparation of materials and attendance tracking.
Spot-check safety documentation during site visits and review Daily Action Plans (DAPs), High-Risk Activity Plans, and safety orientation records.
Immediately notify the project team and regional safety lead of any incidents or near-misses.
Assist in incident investigations and review reports prior to submission.
Ensure a 'Lessons Learned' summary is created for each incident or near miss.
Conduct site-specific safety orientations for all trade partners.
Maintain regular communication with subcontractor safety representatives.
Participate in or lead planning meetings for high-risk activities such as crane operations and confined space entry.
Maintain clear and frequent communication with the project team, safety leadership, and trade partners.
Be responsive to field inquiries and proactive in addressing safety concerns.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in construction safety and 4+ years of management experience.
Current CSP or CHST certification.
Current OSHA 510 Certificate or higher.
CPR and First Aid certification.
Experience supporting data center projects or commercial building construction.
Proficient with technology including Hammertech, ACC, and Microsoft Office.
Strong skills in high-risk activity planning.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Mission Critical experience is highly preferred.
Excellent communication skills across all levels of project teams.
Reliable, proactive, and able to support and align with the project schedule.
Experience in commercial building construction will be considered.
Work Environment
This role is based on-site in Chicago, IL, South Loop, with standard work hours from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Weekend hours are limited to Saturdays from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, approximately 15 Saturdays during the project. You will spend 70% of your time in the field and 30% in the office. Flexibility is required to accommodate extended hours if project needs demand it. A strong safety-first culture is emphasized, and the team values collaboration and proactive problem-solving.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
