TEKsystems Remote Medical Coder in Chicago, Illinois

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Medical Coder with an RN and CPC certification to join a growing medical review organization that specializes in independent, evidence‑based clinical reviews. This is an excellent opportunity for an RN Coder looking to move away from bedside care and into a stable, analytical, non‑patient‑facing role.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform quality assurance (QA) reviews of medical review files to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to internal and regulatory standards

  • Review medical records related to workers’ compensation, group health, and disability claims

  • Gradually transition into conducting independent medical reviews, including:

  • Writing clear, well‑supported medical review reports

  • Compiling and citing appropriate clinical references and medical literature

  • Handle designated cases that specifically require RN Coder expertise

  • Ensure all reviews meet quality, documentation, and compliance requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification

  • Strong understanding of medical coding, clinical documentation, and healthcare regulations

  • Excellent written communication skills with strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently in a quality‑focused review environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
