Robert Half Paralegal in Chicago, Illinois
Description We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our team in Chicago, Illinois, on a contract basis. This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on legal experience by working closely with experienced attorneys in both state and federal courts. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and excel at managing cases from start to finish.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and schedule depositions, medical examinations, and other case-related appointments for attorneys.
• Obtain, review, and summarize medical records to support active case files.
• Organize and file legal documents, including exhibits, briefs, and appeals, while ensuring proper record-keeping for each case.
• Prepare affidavits, review trial transcripts, and monitor deadlines and calendars to provide administrative support to attorneys.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, medical experts, and other parties involved in legal matters.
• Assist attorneys with case management by tracking filing deadlines, billing requirements, and case progress.
• Proofread and edit legal documents and correspondence to ensure accuracy and professionalism.
• Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to manage documentation and correspondence efficiently.
• Collaborate with the legal team to adapt to changing priorities and ensure smooth workflow. Requirements • At least two years of experience in workers' compensation defense or personal injury defense. • Proficiency in legal terminology, particularly medical terminology. • Excellent writing, typing, and proofreading skills to produce accurate legal documents. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. • Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented setting. • Exceptional communication skills for interacting with clients, opposing counsel, and medical professionals. • Commitment to working on-site as a member of the legal team.
The pay range for this position is $30 to $33. Benefits available to contract/contract professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance.
