Pay Range: $159,000 - $236,000 per year

Rush salaries are determined by many factors including, but not limited to, education, job-related experience and skills, as well as internal equity and industry specific market data. The pay range for each role reflects Rush’s anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case. Summary:

Under the leadership of the Associate Vice President, Total Rewards, the Executive Director of Compensation is a strategic leader who bridges the gap between advanced HR technology and complex healthcare-specific pay models. This role focuses on designing high-level staff, executive, and provider compensation programs that are market competitive, internal equitable, compliant, and technically optimized within Workday.

This role leads a team that work closely with HR Partners, Talent Acquisition, HR Strategy and Analytics, Finance, Legal, and senior leaders across the organization in the development, implementation, communication, and administration of base and variable pay programs. Responsibilities:

• Leads System-wide compensation projects and initiatives.

• Directs the assessment of Rush's competitive pay positions in the market through supporting the organization's pay practices and philosophy. Directs the team to “tell the story” of market competitiveness and internal equity via PowerBI dashboards and high-end analytics in order for the organization to maximize data-driven decision making.

• Accountable for System optimization, strategic alignment, pay policy harmonization, audit readiness, and regulatory and compliance oversight.

• Oversees the development, implementation, and communications of compensation programs and policies ensuring their alignment with the organization's pay philosophy.

• Workday Systems Leadership: Serve as a "super-user" for the Workday Compensation module, overseeing configuration of compensation programs and structures, merit process administration, incentive plan administration, the one-time payment module, and automated step progressions.

• Executive & Provider Strategy: Design and lead the development of market-competitive compensation recommendations for both executive leadership and medical providers. Liaison with external consultants, as needed.

• Market Benchmarking: Lead annual benchmarking efforts using industry-standard surveys to maintain external competitiveness. Makes recommendations based on industry trends and best practices that supports the organization's ability to attract and retain key employees in a cost-effective, competitive manner.

• Builds strong relationships with other HR COEs, Finance, and Legal to assure effective and timely collaboration with senior management when evaluating compensation and developing programs and innovative compensation solutions.

• As the subject matter expert, provides consultation and serves as point of escalation of issues for HR Partners to ensures adherence to and consistency of application of compensation policies and practices.

• Partners with HR Operations in the implementation and improvement of compensation and total reward systems and tools.

• Develops staff by providing regular feedback, performance evaluations, employee engagement, and talent management.

• Keeps apprised of federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations to ensure organizational compliance.

Required Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, Analytics, or related field required.

• 6-7 years of progressive experience required, ideally within a large integrated healthcare system, with a focus on; the design and administration of compensation practices and programs, incentive plan design and administration, executive compensation, and leading teams performing high-end analytics.

• Experience managing a team of consultants, analysts, and partners.

• Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Workday HCM and Compensation; expert-level Excel and financial modeling.

• Excellent communication skills to present new programs and advise on issues in a clear and concise manner.

• Strong management skills with the ability to lead others in projects and through change management.

• Strong analytical skills using both qualitative and quantitative data to understand and summarize data for recommendations to senior leadership.

• Working knowledge of and the ability to interpret federal, state, and local compensation regulations.

• Ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees, including senior leadership teams.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

• Master's degree.

• Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).
