Company Overview A precision CNC job shop serving the medical, aerospace, and agricultural industries is seeking an Entry Level Mechanical Engineer to support engineering, production, and customer communication. Position Summary The Entry Level Mechanical Engineer will act as a liaison between customers and the production floor. This individual will assist with quoting jobs, purchasing materials, monitoring the manufacturing process, and coordinating outside services such as heat treating and plating. Strong communication skills are essential, as this role requires regular interaction with customers to ensure parts are produced to specification and delivered on time.
This position includes a structured rotation through all departments, including machining, inspection, and shipping, to build a complete understanding of the companys workflow and capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary communication link between customers and the production team
Assist with quoting new jobs and estimating manufacturing requirements
Purchase raw materials and coordinate with suppliers
Track jobs through the manufacturing process and ensure timely movement of parts
Coordinate outside services including heat treating, plating, and other finishing operations
Review customer prints and specifications to ensure accuracy and manufacturability
Support quality and inspection teams to verify parts meet required standards
Participate in departmental rotations including machine operation, part inspection, and shipping
Document processes, update job travelers, and maintain accurate production records
Provide general engineering support to production and management as needed
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Strong communication and customer service skills
Interest in hands-on manufacturing and willingness to work directly on the production floor
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Prior exposure to manufacturing or machining environments is a plus but not required
Additional Expectations
Must be willing to operate CNC machines during training rotations
Must be comfortable inspecting parts and learning quality processes
