What you’ll be doing

As the leader of the Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) team within CIBC’s US Internal Audit function, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the vision for analytics-driven audit practices. Reporting to the Senior Director, Advanced Analytics & Data Management, you’ll guide a specialized team to design and deliver innovative analytics solutions, automated testing programs, and self-serve dashboards. You’ll partner closely with audit teams to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of audit activities through advanced analytics, machine learning, and Agentic AI. Your expertise will be critical in developing AI-powered use cases, such as continuous risk monitoring, automated issue tracking, intelligent sampling, and real-time audit insights. By fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, you’ll help drive the evolution of internal audit at CIBC. This role has dual reporting to Senior Director, Advanced Analytics & Data Management & the US Head of Internal Audit.

How you'll succeed

  • Advanced Analytics & Innovation – Lead the development and implementation of advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI solutions to support the US Internal Audit plan, including automated testing, continuous monitoring, and deep-dive analysis.

  • Stakeholder Engagement – Collaborate with Audit Portfolio Directors and business partners to identify analytics opportunities, prioritize engagements, and promote the adoption of data-driven audit techniques.

  • Team Leadership & Development – Provide strategic and motivational leadership to the analytics team, ensuring learning and growth opportunities, and supporting the professional development of team members.

  • Automation & Tool Development – Oversee the creation and maintenance of automated analytics tools and self-serve dashboards, and introduce new use cases for automation through collaboration with internal partners.

  • Training & Communication – Champion the use of advanced analytics across audit portfolios by delivering proof-of-concept engagements, demonstrations, and educational sessions.

  • Data Governance & Project Management – Ensure effective management of audit data, adherence to governance practices, and successful delivery of multiple concurrent analytics projects in a dynamic environment.

Who you are

  • You’re an analytics leader. You have significant experience in data analytics, quantitative modeling, business intelligence, or statistical analysis, with a Master’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Business. Certification and experience in machine learning and AI are strong assets.

  • You’re a problem solver. You thrive on investigating complex challenges, making sense of information, and communicating data-driven insights in a clear and impactful way.

  • You understand risk and controls. You’re knowledgeable about audit methodology and can advise on the design and execution of analytics engagements that provide assurance to the bank and audit committee. Audit certification or experience is an asset.

  • You have technical expertise. You’re proficient with data analysis tools, databases (such as Oracle and SQL Server), and open-source programming languages like Python. Experience with Azure Cloud, Power Platform, and Databricks is an advantage.

  • You’re a relationship builder. You excel at collaborating with stakeholders across all lines of defense and support functions, from peers to executives, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

This role has an expected salary range of $170,000 USD - $190,000 USD based on experience, qualifications, and location (salary differential for different locations will be discussed during the interview). The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location.
