Jacobs Construction Project Engineer Professional Associate in Chicago, Illinois
We’re seeking a Construction Project Engineer Professional Associate to be based in Chicago, IL and various unanticipated worksites in the US.
In this role, you’ll:
Lead the Capital Request process between the CPS Facilities and CPS Capital Planning and Construction Departments, facilitating seamless submission of design review and project management requests and enhancing interdepartmental collaboration. Lead weekly meetings with cross-functional teams, capturing key updates and presenting new requests to ensure alignment, transparency, and support timely decision-making. Oversee a high-volume workflow of 1,200+ Capital Requests (avg. 30/month), ensuring timely resolution, data accuracy, and high-quality outcomes. Collaborate with the Capital Planning team to develop the short-term and long-term Capital Plan by analyzing and leveraging Capital Request data, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Oversee construction renovation projects, including interior improvements, HVAC system upgrades, fire alarm installations, and lighting retrofits, ensuring timely delivery and quality compliance. Stakeholder coordination, leading design and progress meetings with architects, engineers, and owners to align project scope and expectations. Oversee procurement lifecycle, preparing bid packages, leading pre-bid meetings, and establishing clear contractor expectations for scope, schedule, and deliverables. Lead bid analysis and contract award process, ensuring selection of qualified contractors aligned with project goals. Schedule management, developing and maintaining project timelines to ensure milestones were met on time. Oversee cost management, tracking budgets, processing change orders, and ensuring financial accountability throughout project phases. Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and compliance reports to support effective project execution. Coordinate project closeout, managing final inspections, punch lists, and turnover documentation to ensure successful project completion.

REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field and 3 years of work experience in the job offered or related Project Engineer occupation.
SPECIFIC SKILLS: Expertise and knowledge of: Project Management & Governance: Budget/Cost Control, Schedule Control, Procurement, Quality Control, Risk Management, Change Management, Project Closeout and Handover, and Reporting. Capital Project experience. Controlling project schedules, utilizing Trimble Unity Construct software. Aligning cross-functional teams to effectively support capital planning and execution for large-scale portfolios. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders. Design guidelines, construction standards, and technical specifications, with a strong understanding of applicable codes and industry best practices. Ability to read, interpret architectural/engineering drawings, and understand building systems. MS Project, and project management platforms like Trimble Unity Construct, Bluebeam, and Primavera P6. Warranty Administration.
