Pay Range: $45.59 - $74.19 per hour

Summary:
Assists and supports the Director of Security in all matters of departmental operations. During the absence of the Director, the Assistant Director provides direct management of the department. This includes all responsibilities for the fiscal, personnel, staffing, and operational control of the department. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Other information:
· Associates degree in Criminal Justice or related field
· Five (5) or more years of managerial experience in hospital security, law enforcement or corporate security.
· Must possess/maintain a valid Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) from the Illinois Department of Finance and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) after successfully completing a 20-hour security guard training course from an approved provider.
· Must possess/maintain a valid Illinois Firearm’s Owner’s Identification Card (FOID) as issued by the Illinois State Police.
· Must have successfully completed a 28-hour firearms training course (including revolver) from a State of Illinois approved provider within two (2) years of the Firearms Control Card (FCC) application, or the applicant must show proof on the FCC application of requalification with the last year at the time of application.
· Must be eligible to obtain/maintain an Illinois FCC from the IDFPR within 90 days of employment (including revolver certification).
· Must maintain a satisfactory firearms requalification score as mandated by the IDFPR.
· Valid Illinois, Indiana, or Wisconsin driver’s license required with a prior driving record deemed acceptable to Human Resources pursuant to a driver’s history check.
· Must possess or obtain International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification at the “Basic” and “Supervisory” levels within 6 months of hire and maintained thereafter.
· Ability to work various shifts; including weekends as assignments dictate.
· Excellent written and oral communications skills.
· Ability to prioritize workload.
· Strong knowledge of physical security; including access control and video surveillance.
· Outstanding customer service skills.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred.
• Previous security supervision experience at the equivalent of Assistant Director level preferred with past experience in either the healthcare, law enforcement or with a large security organization.

Responsibilities:
• Assist Director with oversight of daily operations of the Security Services Department. Develop, implement, and enforce departmental policies and procedures.
• Supervise all line supervisors, conduct evaluations and discipline staff.
• Participate in the recruitment and interview process of departmental employees.
• Supervise the purchase, maintenance, and repair of department equipment.
• Serve as a hearing officer for employee/union grievances.
• Take direct control of department operations during times of emergency or during periods of supervisor absence.
• Assume the functions of the department Director during periods of absence.
• Maintain fiscal/budgetary responsibility for the department.
• Conduct and supervise investigations.
• Coordinate and supervise security training efforts and certifications; to include the direct training of supervisors and officers.
• Coordinate interdepartmental matters with shift supervisors or appropriate responsible parties.
• Assist with regulatory reporting requirements and compliance.
• Represents RUSH in matters of security at external/internal committees and organizations.
