SAM LLC Survey Project Manager in Chesterfield, Missouri

Your Impact at SAM

As a Survey Project Manager at SAM, you will lead the successful execution of complex land surveying projects from kickoff to closeout, delivering high-quality results that exceed client expectations. In this pivotal role, you’ll serve as the primary liaison between clients and internal teams, ensuring project milestones, budgets, and standards are met across multiple active sites. You’ll oversee both field and office operations, mentor a high-performing team, and play a key role in business development through proposal writing and relationship management. This position offers the opportunity to make a strategic impact, grow into senior leadership roles such as Department Manager, and contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects in sectors like renewable energy and electric utilities.

  • Lead and manage land survey projects from start to finish, while ensuring services meet company quality standards, client specifications, and state standards.

  • Participate in planning and implement procedures and systems to maximize operating efficiency.

  • Support high-impact infrastructure projects in sectors such as renewables, energy, and electric utilities.

  • Develop and manage proposals, budgets, schedules, billings, and contracts.

  • Sign and seal plats, field notes and control drawings as required.

  • Establish project management plans and staffing for multiple land survey projects.

  • Participate in local industry networking functions and maintain strong client relationships.

  • Provide support to other internal operational units as needed.

  • Manage project financial performance and provide reporting and updates to leadership.

  • Take ownership of team performance and development with the potential to advance into a Department Manager role.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned to help accomplish the Company’s strategic goals.

What You Bring to SAM

  • 5+ years of professional experience in land surveying with demonstrated project and/or team management responsibilities.

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

  • Proven success managing large-scale survey projects and project teams.

  • Strong proficiency with tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Geopak, ORD, and MS Office Suite.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to clearly state project assignments/deliverables to team members.

  • A collaborative leadership style with a passion for mentorship and team growth.

  • Ability to manage competing deadlines, solve problems in real-time, and maintain high-quality standards under pressure.
