We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our front office team. The role involves utilizing Medent as an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system to manage patient records. You will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring they feel welcomed and informed upon arrival.
Responsibilities
Welcome patients as they arrive, ensuring they feel comfortable and informed.
Manage the appointment calendar, schedule patient visits, and coordinate with medical staff availability.
Handle incoming calls, direct them to the appropriate personnel, and address patient inquiries.
Verify patient insurance coverage.
Organize workload and prioritize tasks efficiently.
Assist patients with check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring all necessary forms are completed.
Maintain and update patient records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
Process insurance claims, create invoices, and manage patient billing.
Update and maintain accurate patient medical histories and records.
Provide patients with information on treatments, medications, and post-procedure care.
Order and manage medical supplies and equipment.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient office operations.
Essential Skills
Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), specifically Medent and ModMed.
Medical assisting and medical receptionist or front office experience.
Orthopedic experience is strongly preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in a busy office environment with the ability to multitask.
Experience with EMR systems is a must.
Proficiency in handling insurance claims and patient billing.
Work Environment
The position requires working Monday through Friday with one weekend per quarter, including Saturday and Sunday shifts from 8 am to 12 pm. Regular shifts are 8 hours, with the start time varying between 7:30 am and 9 am, and one evening shift per week from 12 pm to 8 pm. The primary location is Sparta, with occasional visits to other sites including Morristown, Hackettstown, Newton, and Cedar Knolls. The offices are very busy, handling 20-40 patients a day depending on provider rotation. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
