Description
We are looking for an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee on-site operations for commercial construction projects in Chesapeake, Virginia. This position involves managing all aspects of field activities, including subcontractor coordination, adherence to schedules, quality assurance, and safety compliance. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented leader with extensive experience in commercial construction and a strong understanding of regulated project environments.
Responsibilities:
• Lead daily on-site construction activities to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to scope.
• Collaborate with project managers throughout all project phases, from pre-construction planning to final closeout.
• Develop and implement site logistics plans, sequencing schedules, and phasing strategies in partnership with subcontractors.
• Oversee the organization and maintenance of project documentation, such as blueprints, specifications, and field reports.
• Coordinate the procurement, delivery, and utilization of materials and equipment necessary for project execution.
• Verify layout accuracy, including line and grade, to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Manage the startup and closeout processes, ensuring alignment with company procedures and standards.
• Prepare and distribute daily field reports and other project documentation to keep stakeholders informed.
• Enforce quality control standards on-site and ensure adherence to contract requirements and specifications.
• Serve as the primary safety lead on-site, implementing safety programs, conducting toolbox talks, and performing routine safety inspections.
Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent is essential.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and methods, particularly in commercial projects.
• Proven ability to manage project schedules, subcontractor coordination, and critical path activities.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and building codes.
• Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant jobsite, including experience with OSHA regulations.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively manage teams and collaborate with stakeholders.
• Experience with government or regulated construction projects is highly preferred.
