About Your Role:

As a Manager Fixed Assets at Dollar Tree’s corporate office, you’ll be responsible for reporting on fixed assets for over 9,000 retail locations as well as corporate offices and distribution centers, in the United States and Canada. You’ll be responsible for reporting on Construction in Progress, from aggregating cost information through placing completed projects in service in a timely manner. You’ll be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting depreciation expense, cloud computing amortization, and loss on disposals.

Your day-to-day job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Fixed Assets and Depreciation Management

  • Prepare/review month end depreciation accruals.

  • Ensure proper set-up of project accounting (activities, categories, templates, in service dates, etc.) in the general ledger.

  • Prepare annual depreciation budget, to include cloud computing.

  • Prepare budget vs actual analyses for depreciation and gain/loss accounts.

  • Act as subject matter expert in fixed assets to ensure proper capitalization of expenditures in accordance with GAAP and corporate policies. Effectively collaborate with internal departments to serve as a liaison for fixed asset inquiries.

  • Conduct analyses related to fixed assets as requested by management.

Budgeting, Forecasting, and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal departments regarding the annual capital expenditure budget and monthly forecasting processes.

  • Collaborate with Tax department to ensure tax reporting requirements are met.

Audit, Research, and Process Improvement

  • Initiate research, identify the business or operational issues that affect the company's fixed assets, as well as recommend ways of improving the existing systems and processes.

  • Act as primary contact for internal and external auditors in fixed assets related matters.

  • Perform accounting research as needed and document company policies and positions in memorandums.

Your Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or an equivalent discipline.

  • 5 years related experience.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

  • Ability to work well with deadlines and reprioritize work assignments as needed.

  • Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
