U.S. Marine Corps IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in Cherry Point, North Carolina

Responsibilities You will assist with management of Cyber Security Workforce (CSWF) personnel by assigning technical category, collecting required documentation, certifications and maintaining information in a database. You will enforce Cyber Security directives, policies and guidelines and assist with management of training events. You will assist with vulnerability management for base responsible IT and telecommunications systems and infrastructure, and review and analyze assessment scans to compile reports. You will coordinate with Program Managers, Information System Security Engineers/Officers, and User Representatives to ensure all system roles are assigned and system hardware/software inventory is collected and validated. You will assit with risk analyses or proposed system additions or modifications to existing base responsible IT and telecommunications systems and infrastructure, make recommendations, and take corrective action to ensure systems are maintained. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Analyzing system scans and conducting testing to ensure compliance. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Providing advice and assistance to customers with requests for new software or hardware purchases. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Providing training on user Cyber Security. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Identifying deficiencies and recommending necessary changes. In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: Conducting information system analysis; identifying deficiencies and/or violations of policy to take corrective action; AND making recommendations based on existing or approved IT solutions. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education In lieu of the specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify for the position based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education as follows: I have successfully completed a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree OR I have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree OR I have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent. Note: Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
