Qnity Facility Maintenance Engineer (Focus on Electrical systems) in Cheonan, South Korea

We are hiring a Facilities Management Engineer (with focus on Electrical systems) for our Cheonan site, the core production hub of Qnity’s business. Join us to help build and maintain an innovative and efficient manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Electrical System Operation & Troubleshooting

  • Handle basic-to-intermediate diagnostics and repair of electrical systems (LV/MV equipment, motors, breakers, panels, etc.).

  • Find and fix common issues such as overloads, insulation problems, motor trips, and power quality concerns.

  • Perform routine tests including thermography and grounding/insulation checks.

2. Preventive Maintenance & Documentation

  • Carry out preventive maintenance to keep equipment stable and reliable.

  • Keep simple and accurate records of maintenance work and test results.

  • Update essential electrical drawings and diagrams when needed.

3. Safety & Compliance

  • Follow electrical safety rules, internal EHS policies, and KOSHA requirements.

  • Identify risks and support corrective actions.

  • Help with internal/external safety reviews.

4. Project Support & System Upgrades

  • Participate in installation, testing, and commissioning of new electrical equipment.

  • Review contractor work for safety, compliance, and quality.

  • Provide technical input for facility upgrades, expansions, and automation projects.

5. Team Support

  • Share knowledge with technicians and junior team members.

  • Provide simple guidance during abnormal electrical issues.

6. Future Growth Area: Automation & Controls

  • Assist with PLC, HMI/SCADA, and sensor-based equipment as automation expands.

  • Support troubleshooting of basic control components (sensors, relays, I/O modules).

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in industrial or facility electrical systems.

  • Strong understanding of LV/MV distribution, switchgear, protective devices, VFDs, and motors.

  • Solid troubleshooting ability for electrical issues.

  • Ability to read electrical diagrams and basic PLC documentation.

  • Strong commitment to electrical safety.

  • Basic understanding of PLC and automation concepts.

  • Proficient in business English

Preferred

  • Electricity Engineer License or equivalent.

  • Experience with PLC/HMI systems.

  • Background in high‑reliability industries (semiconductor, chemical, pharma, etc.).

  • Familiar with BMS/EMS or remote monitoring tools.

  • Knowledge of power quality and energy efficiency improvement.
