We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role Manager- Financial Accounting
Purpose of the role
Global Finance is integral to HSBC’s purpose and strategy, playing a valued role in managing finances and costs and deploying capital in the most effective way. Finance operations ( Fin Ops ) is core to Global Finance and provides a variety of financial support services to In-Country teams across the HSBC Group. The current open position is in HSBC Financial Accounting team that involves period end close, accounting controls and balance sheet substantiation leading to IFRS, FINREP, GSIB & CE reporting which is a key input into the GFR process. We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join this team in the role of “Manager - Finance Operations”. The role holder will be responsible for managing monthly and quarterly GRCA/FINREP/ GSIB, Regulatory and MI Reporting including manual returns. Managing accounting events such as manual journals, which are key to the ledger close, provide robust accounting and business insight into Trial Balance analysis, substantiation, exception management and book closure. Involvement with all stakeholders and engagement in process improvement and automation initiatives.
In this role, you will:
Preparation/Review of monthly, quarterly and annual B/S, P/L schedules, various pre and post close journals and consolidated final accounts as per IFRS, Analytical skills to perform variance analysis and detailed review.
Produce and analyze ad hoc management information requests. Strong technical and Functional experience/knowledge of accounting and reporting principles, balance sheet / income statement heads.
Collaborate extensively with the external auditors during preliminary and year-end audit procedures.
Ability to meet KPI timelines including under stringent timelines and high-pressure situations, at the same time maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
Good communication skills to be able to manage the In-country team on a daily basis.
Identify opportunities for process re-engineering / improvement and participate in change initiatives.
Pro-active approach in highlighting issues for timely resolution, ensure participation in various learning initiatives to constantly upgrade future-fit skill set.
Adherence to Group policies, IFRS reporting requirements, audit, controls and compliance requirements.
To be successful you will:
Chartered Accountant/MBA with post qualification experience of 1+ years in Finance and Accounting, or
Prior experience in financial accounting and Reporting and strong knowledge of IFRS
Good working knowledge of month end closure preferably in the Banking Sector
Very strong Excel skills to interpret high data volume and facilitate automation.
Good knowledge of HUB/REMIND/COGNOS/TREATS/ SARACEN and other HSBC systems.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, coordinate the efforts of others and work well with people at a wide range of levels, Understanding of Global markets, products, securities etc.
Excellent communication skills, including experience of explaining complex technical matters simply.
Good knowledge of Analytical tools, MS Access Database, Xceptor , Power BI will have an added advantage
