Cognizant Functional Analyst Lead in CHENNAI, India
The Role
Our Manufacturing, logistics, Energy and utilities group is looking for a Consulting Manager to join our journey. We’re looking for someone who is strong IT consultant in the power utility (Utilities- Water/ Electricity) domain.
We’re looking for Consulting Manager who can deliver within Cognizant’s Five Pillars of Consulting Excellence, which are: 1) Project Execution, 2) Expertise, 3) Business Development, 4) Practice Development, & 5) People Development. As a Consulting Manager ( Manager level position) this means leading a team of Consultants through a client-facing engagement, managing escalations, and serving as a the owner of a workstream; maintaining expertise in your domain; meaningfully contributing to the sales process through a mix of RPI development, client presentations, financial modeling, pricing strategy, and flawless delivery; creating service offerings and/or client partner training materials; and contributing to People Care initiatives, recruiting, and mentoring. Responsibilities
Work with clients to establish a clear connection between business goals/strategies to capability development, and implementation to achieving desired business value.
Define product / platform strategies and solutions focused in Utilities domain
Understand the scope and define business requirements with the business stakeholders
Translate business needs into functional specifications and detailed requirements
Map business processes to identify improvement in Utilities back-office operations
Lead backlog creation and provide functional guidance during sprint planning
· Gather and document functional requirements from stakeholders
Create detailed design document that outlines the proposed solutions
Work within Agile/Scrum delivery frameworks, ensuring requirements are clearly captured, refined, and prioritized in collaboration with product and development teams
Prepare functional use cases, detailed user stories
Review test plans prepared by QA Team, Support UAT
Assist in resolving scope and requirements related queries
Manage change requests / enhancements / features
Work with cross-functional teams with different time zones
Advanced problem-solving skills
Ability to articulate requirements (good communication)
Provide training and support to end-users and stakeholders on processes
Active participation in daily meetings with the functional and development team, as well as frequent meetings with stakeholders and key users
Create and maintain long-term working relationships with technology teams, functional counterparts, vendors, and business partners.
Qualifications
The track record and experience to achieve the above, which includes ideally 8+ years of management consulting experience in the Utilities (Electric or water) domain, where at least 2 of those (though ideally 4+) have been technology (business or technical consultative) team lead experience
Has worked as an IT Analyst, IT Project Manager, IT Program Manager, IT Business Analysis or Product Management in the Utilities domain
Prior experience supporting or leading cloud migration projects is preferred, with familiarity in assessing legacy systems, defining migration strategies, and collaborating with technical teams to enable cloud adoption
Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically.
Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
Show proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and hands-on experience using Jira (or similar tools) to manage user stories, track progress, and support sprint activities
Thrive in ambiguous or fast‑changing environments with a strong bias for action and the ability to drive clarity
Have a proven track record of delivering successful consulting projects.
Display a deep understanding of the Energy/ Utility sector including market trends and challenges.
Be adept at using data analytics to drive decision-making and strategy development.
Be capable of working effectively in a hybrid work model balancing remote and in-office responsibilities.
Show a commitment to continuous improvement and staying current with industry advancements.
Exhibit strong leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and develop junior team members.

Ability to travel if needed for business requirements
Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent
