Xylem Application Engineer in Chennai 10th Floor, India

Responsibilities:

· Prepare comprehensive engineering deliverables including conceptual designs, water balance diagrams, P&IDs, PFDs, and overall water system layouts.

· Perform detailed process design for water and wastewater treatment systems, including process calculations, mass balance, and equipment sizing.

· Develop complete technical proposals comprising process descriptions, scope of supply, equipment lists, performance guarantees, technical clarifications, exceptions, and system pricing.

· Prepare and issue RFQs to domestic and international vendors/suppliers and perform cost evaluation to support proposal development

· Present engineered solutions to global teams and execute proposal handover to project engineering, including preparation of technical presentation materials.

· Provide process engineering support to project teams and product managers, including clarification of design calculations, equipment sizing, and process configurations.

· Ensure adherence to engineering standards, best practices, and customer specifications throughout the proposal development cycle.

Education and Technical Expertise:

· Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from a reputed institute. Master’s in chemical or environmental engineering will be an added advantage.

· 6–9 years of relevant experience in process design, equipment sizing, proposal engineering, and cost estimation for medium- to large-scale water treatment systems.

· Strong understanding of water chemistry, mass balance, and fundamental process engineering principles.

· Familiarity with RO projection software is required.

· Hands-on experience in sizing and selection of

· Filtration systems (PSF, ACF, MGF, DMF, MCF, ASCF)

· Softeners, Ultrafiltration (UF) systems, Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems

· CIP units, chemical dosing systems

· Ion-exchange systems (SAC, SBA, MB), EDI, CPU, and storage tanks

· Biological pretreatment like screening, grit removal, oil separation, equalization tank, DAF, primary sedimentation.

· Secondary treatment ASP, SBR, MBBR, MBR.

· Knowledge of disinfection technologies including UV, ozone, chlorine dioxide, and hypochlorite dosing systems.

· Proficient in pipe sizing, hydraulic calculations, pump and valve sizing, and material of construction (MOC) selection.

· Experience with high-purity and ultra-pure water systems is desirable.

· Ability to develop operational philosophies, control logic narratives, and related documentation.

· Capable of managing multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting schedule and quality requirements.

· Experience interpreting and developing process flow diagrams, P&IDs, plant layout & GA drawings.

· Strong understanding of electromechanical equipment selection, instrumentation, and control system requirements.

· Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT) is preferred.

· Prior experience in working with international engineering teams is preferred.

· Excellent communication skills, with a proactive, self-driven, analytical, and problem-solving mindset.
