Description:
This is a posting designed to recruit for multiple positions including Full-Time, Part-time and Contingent roles available at the Chelsea Hospital.
With all positions the expectation is that rotating weekends and holidays will be required, and flexibility to cover different shifts is preferred.
SUMMARY:
The Food Service Worker position is responsible for a variety of activities involved in the preparation, processing, presentation, and delivery of food for the organization.
Pay starting at $15.82 or higher based on experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITES:
Set-up and clean-up of tray lines assembly area to include (not limited to) hot and cold food items, silverware, dishes, napkins, salads, desserts, breads and beverages.
Prepares work stations by stocking food and non-food items and equipment (as necessary)
Work on assembly tray line stations and read tray tickets to provide correct food items
Load trays on delivery carts
Remove soiled serving trays from patient units, buses patient and customer serving trays
Operate elevator to deliver and pick-up carts to patient care units and outpatient clinics.
Take food service supplies (as needed) to patient rooms and outpatient clinics
Deliver meals to patients’ bedside. Assist with all needs/respond/resolve all concerns and requests.
Communicate with portable telephones to assure all patients’ needs are met.
Operate mechanical dishwasher, clean equipment, kitchen areas and unload food from delivery carts.
Cleans and sanitizes all metal ware cooking pots, pans, and utensils serving ware.
May be asked to prepare simple foods like sandwiches and salad.
Maintains various records such as tray delivery/pick-up schedule.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education:
- Requires high school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Three to six months on the job training or previous experience preferred
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read, write and perform math calculations
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
The physical activities of this position involve:
Frequent, balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, grasping, stooping, crouching, reaching, lifting, repetitive motion.
Pushing delivery carts 10-15 times/8 hour shift.(8-17 lb push/pull force)
Pushing sweep carts 4-5 times/8 hour shift.(1 – 25 lb push/pull force)
Able to walk 8-12 miles/shift.
The essential sensory and communicative activities include:
- Feeling, seeing, speaking, hearing, smelling.
An individual in this position will be required to lift or carry weight in the following range:
10 lbs.
< 35 lbs.
Actual push/pull measurements range 1 lb force to 35 lb lift. (Complete push pull measurements for specific tasks available in Food Service Office or Employee Health)
An individual in this position may be exposed to the following environmental conditions when performing the duties of this job:
Rare exposure to blood and body fluids
Extreme heat (over 100 degrees)
Extreme cold (below 32 degrees)
Physical Hazards (e.g. electric current)
Chemical hazards (cleaning fluids)
