The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and maintaining quality activities for assigned programs to ensure alignment with internal quality processes, regulatory standards, and customer requirements.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain strong quality control processes to ensure product reliability.
Establish quality standards for component and product manufacturing in alignment with applicable regulations such as AS9100 and ISO 9001.
Perform inspections and internal audits of materials, production processes, and finished goods to identify and resolve quality issues.
Apply structured problem-solving methods (RCA, 5 Whys, FMEA) to analyze defects and quality trends.
Lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) initiatives to eliminate root causes of quality issues.
Monitor and oversee process control systems aimed at reducing variation and maintaining consistent product output.
Use statistical tools—including SPC—to assess processes and recommend optimization strategies.
Partner with engineering teams to ensure new product designs incorporate manufacturability and quality considerations.
Validate and qualify manufacturing processes to meet customer and regulatory expectations.
Participate in and support continuous improvement activities across operations.
Review production metrics to identify improvement opportunities and drive process enhancements.
Ensure compliance with all aerospace industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
Maintain thorough documentation covering inspections, audits, and quality procedures.
Assist with internal and external audits and ensure timely response to findings.
Provide training, coaching, and support to production personnel on quality requirements and best practices.
Work closely with engineering, operations, supply chain, and leadership teams to resolve quality issues and implement effective solutions.
Communicate quality performance metrics to stakeholders to promote transparency and alignment with organizational goals.
Essential Skills
Strong knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, and related quality system expectations.
Mastery of Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) methodologies.
Technical proficiency with inspection tools, qualification methods, and PCB/electronic principles.
Ability to evaluate whether products meet functional and design specifications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree.
At least 5 years of experience in an electronic quality assurance or quality engineering role within the aerospace sector.
IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Specialist (current or prior certification).
Familiarity with platforms such as Net-Inspect, Exostar, and OEM portals.
Experience generating AS9102 First Article Inspection reports.
Strong grasp of aerospace engineering fundamentals and quality assurance methodologies.
Hands-on experience with inspection, testing, validation, and certification processes.
Knowledge of quality software tools and statistical analysis techniques.
Exposure to lean methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping).
Prior experience as a Delegated Quality Representative (Production DQR).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chatsworth, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.10/hr.
