JOB NUMBER: 58/7988/MEO1-H/03.02.2026-JB
The overall function of this position is to operate a variety of heavy equipment for the purposes of road/right of way and vegetative maintenance. This position is located in District 58, Unit 765 and reports directly to the Highway Foreman 2.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Operate heavy equipment, as needed.
Must be capable of interpreting data contained in various operator's manuals to ensure the limits and capabilities of the equipment operated are not exceeded. Perform minor repairs, services, and cleans equipment in accordance with the operator manual and manufacturer's recommendations to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently.
May be required to perform other duties as necessary, including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.
Prior to equipment operation, conduct routine visual/physical safety inspection of equipment, report problems to supervisor/appropriate personnel and/or take necessary corrective action whenever possible.

Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional
Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Mobile Equipment Operator 1, 2, or 1/Heavy.
Work Schedule:Work hours are 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Thursday.
Compensation:
MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 1:
Class D, Chauffeur’s License will be required upon appointment. The starting salary for MEO 1 is $16.06/hour ; this job title receives Premium Pay in the amount of $1.00/hour for every hour worked. Additionally, a 10% base pay increase will be granted upon attainment of permanent status.
MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 2:
Class A, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) will be required upon appointment. The starting salary for MEO 2 is $17.18/hour ; this job title receives Premium Pay in the amount of $1.00/hour for every hour worked. Additionally, a 10% base pay increase will be granted upon attainment of permanent status.
MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 1/HEAVY:
Class A, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) will be required upon appointment. The starting salary for MEO 1/Heavy will be $21.05/hour .
