The Opportunity

This position works out of our Charlottesville, VA or Lake Forest, IL in the Cardiometabolic and Informatics facility.

Our rapid diagnostics solutions are helping address some of the world’s greatest healthcare challenges.

As the Software Developer - Simulation Engineer III , you will have the chance to provide software development services by building and coding additional functionality and upgrade of proprietary software: a diabetes simulator which can perform clinical protocols on virtual subjects and analyze output data to produce meaningful reports that will guide Abbott Diabetes Care and other researchers in device and control algorithm development.

What You’ll Work On

  • Builds and codes applications and/or modules using languages such as C++, JavaScript, MATLAB, XML, C#, .NET Core framework, REST APIs, Python, React, nextJS, etc.

  • Knowledge of version control tools and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Some knowledge of IIS and MS SQL.

  • Designs software architecture to meet the specific needs of users.

  • May build add-on modules or plugins using application program languages.

  • May have client management responsibility.

  • Performs code review of other simulation programs.

  • Follows software development procedures and good documentation practices of Abbott Rapid Diagnostics - Informatics quality system.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences or other related fields with a strong computational component, such as application development, statistics, and applied mathematics.

  • Experience in implementing algorithms and data structures for simulator computing applications.

  • Experience with source code control tools, such as Git.

  • Experience with writing and executing software unit testing.

  • Good communication and presentation skills.

  • Experience (or knowledge) in statistical analysis and data presentation design.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Visual Studio is a plus.

  • Demonstrates initiative, dependability, flexibility, and enthusiasm.

The base pay for this position is $78,000.00 – $156,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
