University of Virginia Research Assistant Professor in Charlottesville, Virginia
The Division of Infectious Diseases and International Health at the University of Virginia is seeking an Assistant Professor to fulfill research activities and deliverables for an NIH grant, Mechanisms of Fecal Microbiota Transplant Protection from Recurrent C. difficile and co-direct the competing renewal of an NIH grant, the Role of Type 2 Immunity in Innate Protection from C. difficile .
The ideal candidate will be expected to independently conduct research on the host immune response to C. difficile infection in humans and in mouse models. Essential expertise for the position includes scRNAseq, bulk RNAseq, spectral flow cytometry, mouse models of C. difficile infection, assays of C. difficile toxin, a first author publication record in C. difficile , outstanding abilities in oral and written scientific communication, and ability and motivation to assist graduate students in the research group on their dissertation research.
