Job Profile Summary
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to gathering needed supplies and instrumentation for surgical procedures according to the surgeon preference card. Maintains the sterile field and anticipating the needs of the surgical team. Is constantly vigilant to the adherence of aseptic technique by all team members. Is a mentor and go to person for other staff.
Performs all duties of a Surgical Tech 1 and 2
Employed as a Registered Certified Surgical Technologist for two or more years.
Assumes leadership roles and acts as a mentor to other surgical tech staff.
Actively participates in professional growth activities including attending regular committee meetings.
Has exceptional knowledge of at least one specialty service.
Participates as a member of a professional organization-healthcare-association
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduated from an CAHEEP or ABHES accredited by CAHEEP/AHEBS OR NCCT Approved program.
Experience: Three years of experience required.
Licensure: BLS required. Certified to practice as a Surgical Technologist by NBSTSA (The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting). Current Registration with Virginia Board of Medicine required at the time of hire.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods; Repetitive motion: passing instruments, lifting heavy instrument sets. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull >50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to cold, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The starting base rate for this role is $26.40 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
