Job Description:
This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, and solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Job expectations include a strong knowledge of development and testing practices common to the industry and design and architectural patterns.
Position Summary:
The Mainframe Developer / Development Lead will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and supporting the CashPro Mainframe platform, with specific focus on the International Data Repository (IDR). IDR processes and manages all international payments data, transactions, and balances across multiple regions. The role requires strong technical expertise in Mainframe technologies, leadership in solution design, and the ability to operate in a fast‑paced production environment supporting high‑volume financial systems.
Responsibilities:
Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
Designs, develops, and modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained
Mentors other software engineers and coach team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automating tool stack
Executes story refinement, definition of requirements, and estimating work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle
Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
Automates manual release activities
Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance)
Design, develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications supporting the CashPro IDR platform.
Work with core technologies including DB2, CICS, COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and Mainframe utilities.
Support end‑to‑end processing of international payments data, including ingestion, validation, transformation, and reconciliation workflows.
Lead technical design discussions, provide solution recommendations, and review code for quality and maintainability.
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely and controlled manner, ensuring data accuracy and platform stability.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Application Support, Payments Technology, Infrastructure, QA, etc.) for integrated delivery.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and operational risk standards.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Participate in release planning, effort estimation, and documentation of system changes.
Required Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in Mainframe application development and support.
Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and mainframe file structures (e.g., VSAM).
Experience working within high‑availability, high‑volume financial systems—preferably payments ortransaction‑processingplatforms.
Solid understanding of batch processing, data flows, and online transaction processing.
Ability to analyze complex datasets and troubleshoot data-related issues.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under time-sensitive conditions.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience supporting or developing for international payments, SWIFT, or global banking systems.
Knowledge of CashPro or similar treasury/payment platforms.
Familiarity with modernization or re‑platforming initiatives involving mainframe ecosystems.
Experience leading technical teams or serving as a feature/technical lead.
