Job Description:

At Regions, the Identity and Access Management (IAM) Senior Manager oversees the overall strategy, planning, evaluation, architecture, implementation, and execution of the Regions Identity Access Management Program.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Creates strategy influencing business methods and integrated security restrictions, weighing complex requirements from the business with industry best practices for security

  • Identifies, evaluates, and develops opportunities for process improvement, training, and awareness materials to educate users on security policies and practices

  • Maintains knowledge of application security to ensure standard or preferred methods are followed in accordance with compliance regulations

  • Enhances and automates Identity and Access Management (IAM) processes and procedures

  • Leads IAM related deployments and coordinates access rights reviews across lines of business and technology teams

  • Acts as intermediary and facilitator to help resolve ongoing and/or complex issues

  • Creates team goals that align with the Information Technology (IT) and IT Security strategies

  • Leads identification and implementation of IAM services and technologies

  • Drives IT solutions to ensure they meet the business needs balanced with a pragmatic and integrated approach to the design of technical solutions

  • Delivers enterprise-wide strategic thinking to IT investments to ensure integration is achieved

  • Partners with senior leaders to assess how technologies can best streamline processes and/or add business value

  • Remains up to date on key technology, business, and industry trends

  • Partners across Technology, Operations, Digital, and Data (TODD) to ensure controls are designed, implemented, and monitored to strengthen risk management, compliance, and cyber security, effectively mitigating risk to levels within the company’s risk appetite

  • Ensures disciplined change management by evaluating risk and control impacts when designing or implementing changes to processes, systems, products, and/or services

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

This position is incentive eligible.

This is a single incumbent position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related technology or business area

  • Twelve (12) years of related experience including leadership and management experience

Preferences

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or other industry certification

  • Experience managing Information Technology and/or Information Security projects

  • Experience with cyber security operations and incident response/handling

  • Experience leading advanced and complex projects and initiatives

Preferred Qualifications:

Leadership & Strategic Capability

  • Proven people leadership experience managing technical IAM teams (Access Governance, Provisioning, Access Reviews, Identity Lifecycle).

  • Ability to develop and execute IAM strategy aligned to enterprise security goals.

  • Strong talent development skills, including mentorship, coaching, and succession planning.

  • Executive communication and ability to influence senior leaders, auditors, and risk partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through change, drive modernization, and improve operational maturity.

Identity & Access Management Expertise

  • Deep expertise with SailPoint IdentityIQ and/or IdentityNow (administration, operations, governance workflows, certifications).

  • Strong understanding of identity lifecycle, provisioning/deprovisioning, role engineering, and birthright access.

  • Knowledge of access reviews, entitlement management, and segregation-of-duties (SoD).

  • Experience with Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra, and enterprise directory services.

  • Understanding of authentication (MFA, passwordless, FIDO2, YubiKeys) and authorization models (RBAC, ABAC).

  • Familiarity with privileged access processes and integrations with CyberArk or similar PAM tools.

Operational Excellence & Process Management

  • Experience building repeatable, scalable IAM processes that improve quality and reduce friction.

  • Ability to drive operational KPIs, SLAs, and continuous improvements across provisioning, access reviews, and SailPoint operations.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a track record of resolving escalations and reducing operational backlogs.

  • Skilled at vendor management and partnering with engineering, infrastructure, and application teams.

Technical Competency

  • Understanding of identity data governance, metadata, and entitlement hygiene.

  • Experience with API integrations, connectors, and SailPoint workflows.

  • Ability to interpret logs, troubleshoot identity issues, and guide teams through complex technical challenges.

  • Working knowledge of cloud identity concepts (IaaS, SaaS integrations, SCIM).

Risk, Compliance, and Audit

  • Strong understanding of SOX, regulatory requirements, and internal audit expectations.

  • Ability to partner effectively with Risk, Audit, and Compliance to reduce findings and strengthen IAM controls.

  • Knowledge of NIST, zero trust principles, and industry best practices for identity governance.

  • Experience preparing for and defending IAM controls in external audits (EY, regulators, etc.).

Successor-Ready Executive Skills

  • Enterprise mindset with the ability to step into broader IAM leadership across all towers (Governance, AuthN, Privileged Access, Engineering).

  • Ability to translate technical IAM capabilities into business value for executives.

  • Drives culture, accountability, and cross-team collaboration.

  • Financial and resource planning experience (budgeting, staffing, vendor contracts).

  • Operates effectively in ambiguity and builds consensus across the organization.

This position is intended to be onsite, now or in the near future . Associates will have regular work hours, including full days in the office three or more days a week. The manager will set the work schedule for this position, including in-office expectations. Regions will not provide relocation assistance for this position, and relocation would be at your expense. The locations available for this role are Birmingham, AL, Atlanta, GA, Nashville, TN, or Charlotte, NC.

Compensation Details

Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.

The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.

$257,410.00 USD

Incentive Pay Plans:

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary incentive plan. Employees are eligible to receive a discretionary award based on individual, business, and/or company performance.Opportunity to participate in the Long Term Incentive Plan.
