The Role

The Senior Associate General Counsel, Bank Regulatory, will lead a team of attorneys and legal professionals that serve as trusted legal advisors to Executives and Senior Leaders on bank regulatory matters impacting a large, complex and highly regulated financial institution. This role provides strategic guidance on prudential regulation, supervisory matters, and regulatory change initiatives, partnering closely with business, risk, compliance, public affairs and government relations teams.

The role requires strong judgment, the ability to influence at senior levels, and experience navigating regulatory issues within a highly regulated banking environment. Responsibilities include:

  • Advising on matters involving the Federal Reserve, OCC, FDIC, and CFPB

  • Coordinating regulatory inquiries and examinations; interpreting and implementing evolving regulatory requirements; and supporting enterprise initiatives, transactions, and remediation efforts

  • Providing integrated strategic, timely legal advice aligned with enterprise objectives, regulatory expectations, and risk standards

  • Developing and leading talent through coaching, feedback, and performance management, fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture and reinforcing disciplined risk management and effective issue escalation

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Law experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 6+ years of management experience

  • Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in bank regulation, either from a leading financial institution, top law firm, and/or regulatory agency, and can operate effectively in a fast‑paced, highly visible setting.

  • Proven client relationship and interpersonal skills at the Board and senior executive level, including the ability to provide valuable and trusted advice to clients and colleagues on legal, business management and regulatory questions, and as necessary engage with regulators on behalf of the bank.

  • Excellent written and oral communication, influence and negotiation skills.

  • Proven ability to (i) adapt quickly to a changing or crisis environment while building relationships and negotiating for desired outcomes, (ii) work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, (iii) understand complex business activities and operations, (iv) prioritize among competing demands, and (v) develop and maintain relationships of trust with business leaders.

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$290,000.00 - $500,000.00
